When visiting the Public Prosecutor’s Office assistance can always be expected, however it is important to note that the Public Prosecution Service only brings Criminal Cases to trial.

Criminal Cases involve an action that is considered to be harmful to society as a whole, hence these are considered offenses against the “state”. Examples of these sort of cases are:

  • Homicide
  • Manslaughter
  • Conspiracy
  • Fraud
  • Theft
  • Sexual assault
  • Drug possession

Cases that do not fall in this category are considered Civil Cases. Civil Cases usually involve private disputes between persons or organizations. Examples of these sort of cases are:

  • Property disputes (land)
  • Complaints against the country
  • Contract breaches (labour issues)
  • Landlord/tenant issues
  • Restraining orders
  • Money and debts
  • Discrimination & civil rights violations
